Using new technology to create an awesome 80’s event
80’s themed events are probably one of the most popular events we do but often people have no idea where to start with lighting so here are some ideas to help you create a standout event!
Glow Furniture Tetris!
Using glow furniture to create a tetris wall! A great way to theme the party is to hire our glow cubes to create a tetris wall. Stack them up and stagger them, then set them to a fast colour changing mode with the remote and you will create a really fun effect.
Think 80’s..think fluro!
Well I think the one thing we all think about when it comes to the 80’s is fluro so what better way to theme your 80’s event than by going with a glow in the dark theme which will match really well with your glow furniture wall! There are a few options with lighting for a fluro themed party. You will need uv or black lights to create the great glow affect but how do you know which type of black light is right for your event?
If the event is outdoors then you would use battery waterproof uplights set to UV. These can sit on the ground angled upwards for full coverage. If the event is in a large space like a hall or venue then UV Panels are the best option as they are bright and cover a large area. If however the event is in a house or garage we would suggest the original UV Batons, these give the truest UV effect as they are globed and not LED.
Now decorations and outfit – on a budget
The best part about an 80’s themed party is you can really manage the decorations and an outfit to match on a budget. All you really need to make your glow party work is to wear white or fluro and under the black light you will really glow! Fluro streamers and balloons add a great effect also. Then finish off your look with some UV makeup!
Finally the dance floor..
Don’t forget the dance floor light. A great 80s style disco light is the Revo 4 or the Moonflower disco light and add some battery operated lights around the room for extra ambience.
